Bike Pro's OriginsPedal Pusher / 800-Bike-Pro . . . the company and the Buyer's GuideWe've been selling bicycles and accessories since 1980. The business was started back then as a garage bicycle repair shop by a college student, who was a cycling enthusiast. Today the same person, Frank Walburg owns the store and it's mail order business. He works out of a 18,000 square foot retail location with customers in nearly every country in the world while employing 60 fellow cyclists. The Pedal Pusher is considered to be one of the 5 largest retail bicycle stores in the US and has a selection that has not been rivaled yet anywhere. We stock high end Mountain, Road and even BMX parts (from which many of the people who work here came up through the ranks) and accessories. We stock 14 lines of production bikes and 51 brands of custom frames. Our service department includes 8 self contained and tooled work stations and we even have what are considered exotic tools (Phil Wood spoke machine, 22 ton machine press) to make the work turn out perfectly with precision. With our selection and service department, we can offer you bicycles built properly, exactly to your specifications. Our company goal is to have the best selection and inventory at the absolute best price with a polite, knowledgeable staff to give you the help you're looking for. At Bike-Pro, we specialize in selling (American made whenever possible) quality, well recognized brand-name bikes, frames, parts and accessories to customers everywhere. Un-like many of our competitors, we do not waste our focus and inventory on private label, imported goods, (which are usually copies of quality, American made products) built to a price rather than the original's quality. We try to support the going US cycling economy whenever possible, or the least practical. Bike-Pro cares about the environment. Our founder repaired bikes in his garage under the name "Cycle Resurrection" to keep them from becoming land fill and minimize automobile use. Frank views bikes as real transportation. We recycle ardently and whenever possible, you will see that we pack orders for shipment using recycled cardboard and packing material, keeping resource use at the absolute minimum. We know you are buying quality parts to arrive in perfect condition - not virgin pre-printed cardboard boxes with advertising on the side. Wasteful pre-printed new boxes add to our costs and your prices. Our Buyer's Guide takes customer information to a new level. It's made to inform and educate you so your purchase is the right one, the first time. Each subject has a number of un-biased reviews that involve countless hours of research, writing, and photography. This on-line edition will be up-dated with revised reviews and new subjects regularly. Revisions will noted next to the subject on the Buyer's Guide index page. |
