AMERICAN CLASSIC SEALED BOTTOM BRACKET

American Classic Equipment's sealed bearing bottom bracket is the "dual floating cup with fixed spindle" type permitting fine lateral adjustments in spindle placement for perfect chain alignment. The spindle is machined from Black Cro-moly steel rod that is turned on a lathe to taper both ends so crank arms slide on easily, then make a smooth 17mm outer diameter surface for the bearing cartridges to slide on and seat squarely. A 90 degree flanged lip is cut for each bearing to shoulder against and the center has a reduced diameter cutting the weight of the spindle. The spindle is drilled through, then the ends are tapped for the crank bolts.

The adjustable bearing cups are machined from aluminum rod, and left in their Silver color. They are drilled from the inside so the bearing cartridge lays squarely in the cup. The outside of the cup is drilled with 4 small holes so that a pin spanner can be used for the final adjustments. For each cup there is a lockring that has been machined 5.3mm thick aluminum plate stock. The lockrings are cut with four lockring spanner grips, threaded then anodized Black. The sealed bearings are the Japanese WTW, model 6903RS, with a 17mm inner diameter.

The American Classic B/B comes in either English or Italian thread with 117mm, 125mm, or 136mm spindle lengths. The weight of an English thread with 125mm spindle is 228 grams. Crank bolts are not included with this B/B.

This version has been replaced by a new G.I.S. Grease Injection System model. We sold this version for $84.99

AMERICAN CLASSIC TITANIUM SEALED BOTTOM BRACKET

American Classic makes a Titanium spindled version of their bottom bracket. All other aspects of the bottom bracket are the same as in the Cro-Moly version above with a very slight bearing change and the spindle. The bearing used is the Japanese IJK 6903RS.

The Titanium spindle is machined from Ti 6Al-4V rod, that is drilled through end to end reducing its weight, then threads are tapped into the interior of both ends for the crank fastening bolts. The Ti spindle is an exact machined Ti machined copy of the Cro-Moly one used above.

The American Classic Titanium spindled B/B comes in either English or Italian threads with 117mm, 125mm, or 136mm spindle lengths. The weight of an English thread with 117mm spindle is 154.5 grams. Crank bolts for the Ti B/B, like the Cro-Moly model, are not included with this B/B.

This version has been replaced by a new G.I.S. Grease Injection System model. We sold this Ti version for $124.99
