Exus is the brand name used by Victor for some of their pedals and they produce an aftermarket Titanium replacement spindle for use in place of the steel ones that are stock for three other Shimano pedal sets. The Exus spindle is machined from Titanium 6Al-4V rod that is turned on a numeric lathe, then cut and threaded to be an exact replacement for the spindle used in the Shimano M635 XT Comp, M737 XT-XTR SPD Clipless, and A525 single sided SPD pedal sets. The spindle has a ground steel cone race pressed onto it in the one area of the spindle where the bearings actually come in contact with it. The weight of the stock Shimano steel spindle is 62 grams each. The Exus replacement spindle weighs just 35 grams each, though they are sold in pairs. Made in Taiwan.

As we've mentioned in our reviews, with whatever delicacy we could summon, a frequent problem with many of the Shimano pedals is the plastic locknut used to hold the spindle bearing unit in place. The nut, when turned the wrong way, has a tendency to shear off. When that happens there is real way to remove the spindle or the broken imbedded parts. The broken nut holds the spindle /bearing unit in the pedal body, so often the pedal can never be used again. SRP made replacement that is machined from aluminum. The CNC machined part is identical to the original and requires the TL-PD40 to install the spindle/locknut once the exchange is complete. The image shows you a Gold exterior.
