These are different, because these don't even pretend to be quick release. They really are just skewers, and made as light as it is possible to make. Instead of using a rod fastened to a rotating cam for closure, the Control skewer uses a machine bolt with a 5mm hex fitting. The bolt has 5mm x .8mm pitched threads. The bolt slides into and through a cupped washer machined from aluminum rod that cradles the bolt head. The cupped washer has a 19mm contact diameter with a serrated inner face. The nut, also machined from aluminum rod, has a 19mm contact diameter with a serrated inner face. The machining of the nut leaves two parallel grip surfaces. Each skewer has two volute springs made of round spring wire. The weight of the front control Ti skewer is 23 grams, the rear weighs 26 grams. The aluminum washer and nuts are available in 4 anodized colors, Blue, Black, Lavender, or Silver. Remember, these skewers require a 5mm hex wrench to properly tighten and the wrench isn't included.
