Note of Astonishment & Appreciation

On November 2nd 1995 while checking out a fact for a piece I was writing I decided to track back from Amanda's Home Page to Pointcom. I decided to perform a quick search to see if any bike sites had been awarded their "Top 5% of All Web Sites"

Was I surprised to see that we had been given 2 of 3 of their notice awards. We were the New and Noteworthy choice on October 18th 1995 and were also given the Top 5% of All Web Sites award on the same day, which for me is something I never thought would happen.

In January 1995 when I was first learning to Surf the net and get a sense of HTML writing I saw a few sites that had been given the 5% award and felt they were exemplar and hoped that my work would be good enough to merely get their attention for a nomination.

I feel the way that Kevin Costner or Clint Eastwood must have felt when "the Unforgiven" and "Dances with Wolves" won the Best Director and Best Picture Oscars for them. As actors they never thought they would get a directors Oscar and as a writer about bike parts and the industry I never thought I would the get Internet Web Equivalent.
