After buying 6 issues of your magazine, and just before I was about to subscribe, the Feb. 96 issue has changed my mind. Hell, I don't even know if I'm gonna
continue buying your rag anymore. I'm talking about your longest piece in this issue...a 14-page snowboarding article. Hello? McFly? Anyone home????
I don't have a lot of time to stand at the magazine section and flip through all the mtb rags. I usually rely on the information printed on the cover which are
indicative of the contents of the magazine. So, I see the large bold print 'SPECIAL: EDITOR'S CHOICE...,' the 'cover story' kinda thing. 'Downhill Secrets' and
'Great Gifts Under $25' in bold red. I immediately thought this would be a great issue and I bought it.
Then what do I find when I flip through your Feb 96 issue? "Great disappointment" about sums it up. Then, I was angry and felt ripped off. The BIG BOLD Editor's
Choice section was 2 pages. The bold red Downhill Secrets was mostly about some guy being scared shitless all week long. And I'm still wondering where are the
Great Gifts for Under $25...the jewelry section??? You've gotta be kidding!!!
And what do I find hidden towards the end of the magazine? The 'should've-been-in-bold-print' cover story...a whole 14-pages on snowboarding. After all, it is the
longest piece in this issue with 4 full page action photos. Then I flipped back to the cover, searched all over for any clue that tells me there's a huge section here
in this mtn bike magazine ("The World's Best Selling MOUNTAIN BIKE Magazine") on snowboarding. No, the word snowboarding never appeared on the cover, not 'snow' not
'board', not a clue. Then, after checking the contents section, I realized that you have hidden it on the bottom right hand corner, with the small font, sideways print
on the cover. Hmmm, interesting, to say the least. NICE FUCKING TRICK is more like it. I shouldn've known something was wrong when I saw that snowboarding picture in
the Contents section.
I didn't buy Mountain BIKE to read about snowboarding. Your Contents section says snowboarding is mountain biking's "Ice-Cool Brother" ??? WHATEVER! You try to
justify the presence of this article by saying that many racers are snowboarders, and how they are so similar in attitude and essence. Look, I didn't buy your rag to
become a zen master, so cut the bullshit. The two sports has as much in common as Snow White and Rambo. If I want to read about snowboarding, I'll buy a snowboarding
magazine. Believe me, neither I nor anyone else will pick up a copy of Mountain BIKE for anything to do with snowboarding. So stick to mountain biking like your title
says. If you keep this bullshit up you're gonna lose a lot more business than just a few pist off guys.
